IHOP gives free pancakes for National Pancake Day

National Pancake Day is a tradition that occurs annually on the first Tuesday of March. Every year, the hashtag #NationalPancakeDay becomes a Twitter trend. Also, IHOP will be giving free pancakes to customers on National Pancake Day. Here’s the scoop:

Today, March 7, IHOP is celebrating their 12th anniversary of National Pancake Day. WYFF News 4 covered IHOP’s offer on national television. Every National Pancake Day, IHOP raises funds for charities. This year, IHOP partnered with the Children’s Miracle Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “National Pancake Day is one of our most significant fundraisers of the year and we are very fortunate to have so much celebrity support,” said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “To date, IHOP has helped raise more than $5 million in five years and we have set an ambitious goal in 2011 to bring the total amount raised to more than $7.5 million.” 

IHOP will be serving a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes from 7am to 7pm. For different cities, IHOP may be serving pancakes until 10pm. IHOP’s goal is to raise $3.5 million for children who are battling critical illnesses. For more information, click here to go to IHOP’s website.

IHOP tweeted to announce its National Pancake Day offer. “FREE PANCAKES… #TuesdayMotivation #NATLPancakeDay 1 free short stack. Participation and hours vary. Dine-in Only,” IHOP tweeted.

Good Morning America tweeted to celebrate National Pancake Day. “Retweet if you love pancakes #NationalPancakeDay,” they tweeted. The GIF in this tweet is a picture of buttermilk pancakes with strawberries, blueberries, and maple syrup. Yum.

Also, The Rock has celebrated National Pancake Day. He tweeted a picture of himself with a bowl of pancakes in front of him. “Hell, I thought every day was National Pancake Day. #Dominator #UncleJemima,” he tweeted.

Even Barbra Streisand celebrates National Pancake Day. Columbia Records wished Streisand a happy National Pancake Day. In a response to Columbia Records, she tweeted to observe this national tradition:
